I'd say sit on the SP and wait till you have more.
If you try and spec into either of those with only 2 mil, you'll be treating yourself to one hell of a masochistic headache.

Well im not planning on gaining more sp for this character, i don't play it and it doesn't have passive sp, but just out of curiosity how much SP would it take to produce a decent ads pilot?

I mean, recalling my own start on using those, it really sucks hardcore if you don't have access to at least Complex Hardeners, and without some higher tier turrets, you won't really do enough damage to infantry.
If you're saying you won't put any more than 2 mil SP on that character ever I'd recommend you use that character for something else. Being an ADS pilot is a very SP intensive role.

I've tried running alt mercs but they are painful. I find it more enjoyable to put all my effort into one character that can advance faster and share core skills among all the roles I choose and I can switch roles simply by visiting a supply depot or respawning. Short lived alts for testing something is a different matter but I'll never build a dedicated alt.
Yes, the progression system in this game does not suit the concept of alt characters the way it does in EVE Online.
